La La Land Kind Cafe – Lower Greenville, Dallas, TX

Since March, a quaint home turned into a business has been getting a ton of press, but not for its design: This business is a cafe that employs former foster kids who have aged out of the system and often have a hard time finding […]

Why I’m Grateful For Female Friendships

Why I’m Grateful For Female Friendships

If there’s one thing I’m grateful for in 2019, it is how negative sentiments around female friendships are well and truly on their way out. In the past, we’ve all heard people say cringe-worthy things like “I just get along better with guys because being […]

One Pot Greek Chicken Pasta with Creamy Feta Wine Sauce

One Pot Greek Chicken Pasta with Creamy Feta Wine Sauce

Back when I was in college, a friend of mine’s signature dish was Pasta Greco, an easy-to-make Greek-inspired pasta dish that was adapted from a local restaurant we worked at.

Now that I have a little more experience in making recipe’s my own, I’ve been wanting to upgrade the Pasta Greco into something slightly more impressive and flavorful, but still keep it easy.  The key?  Making it a One Pot Pasta dish. (more…)

One Pot Spicy Chicken Riggies

One Pot Spicy Chicken Riggies

A few years ago, a good friend of mine asked me to make her something “spicy with chicken” for her birthday dinner.  I wanted to make something that she’d never had before, and after scouring the web for inspiration, I became smitten with the idea […]

Here is Why You Need to Stop “Judging” Your Friends

Here is Why You Need to Stop “Judging” Your Friends

When I stopped judging my friends, I started really enjoying my life. We’ve all done it, right? We’ve looked at the people we care the most about and thought “wtf!” Guilty. I’m also guilty of sharing those feelings with others, I think they call it […]

4 Red Flags In Your Work-Life Balance

4 Red Flags In Your Work-Life Balance

Achieving a healthy work-life balance seems like a consistent challenge. With the ability to be connected to your job at any moment (hello, email notifications!) it feels like the line between work and life is becoming more and more blurred.

For me, having time separate from work to spend time with friends, family and even work on my own passion projects are essential to my happiness. I find that whatever brings in my income (because I’m relying on it for so much of my life) genuinely feels like “work”, which inherently amplifies the less fun aspects of the job.

There was definitely a time where I had horrible work-life balance. I was stressed nearly all the time and you could often find me crying in the bathroom in my office (and now I always carry concealer in my bag!). It didn’t occur to me that I wasn’t spending time on the personal things I valued, which was bringing my overall happiness down. I always just thought I could ‘work hard and play hard’ and find the happiness: a formula that turned into burnout and stress.

Creamy Red Pepper Shells

Creamy Red Pepper Shells

Have you ever had stuffed shells? See, I am fortunate enough to have a dear friend, who is OBSESSED with stuffed shells. He taught me years ago how to make them the “right” way. 😉 But this way….I’m pretty sure he would approve.

3 REASONS IT’S OK FOR YOUR FRIEND GROUP TO SHRINK IN YOUR 20S

3 REASONS IT’S OK FOR YOUR FRIEND GROUP TO SHRINK IN YOUR 20S

Going into college, it almost felt like a competition for who could meet the most people. Everyone was hungry to go outside their usual friend group and make new connections – myself included. To be honest, I never really made a ton of new friends in college. I made a couple acquaintances, but I was never the girl who had 80 different people texting her on a Saturday night. I kind of had my core people and that was it. But the older I got, even that core group of people started to thin out. And now that I’m 25, well, let’s just say the group has really thinned down. I’m lucky to have my core group – about 8-10 people, here in Dallas, that are my ride or die peeps.  (more…)

Green Detox Smoothie

Green Detox Smoothie

Guys……. I really really really need this smoothie right now. Because the beignets. The poboys. The fried chicken. The calories are adding up. So as soon as I got back to Dallas from NOLA, I picked up Bear and started detoxing for the entire weekend with this.
